Tulia Livestock Auction report
The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,095 head selling on Sept. 27, compared to 1,943 head a week ago and 500 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling mostly $2 to $3 higher with instances selling $6 higher. Trade activity was moderate on good demand. Receipts were curbed due to rain in the trading area but several loads of reputations yearlings were available in the offering. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 3%, 0% replacements and 97% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 75% steers and bulls, 25% heifers, approximately 85% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 182.00 to 198.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 170.00 to 175.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 155.00 to 160.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 155.50 to 160.00, few 660 lb. calves 145.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 155.50 to 159.50, few 751 lb. calves 144.00, loads 754 lbs., fancy 166.00; loads 812 lbs., 159.25; few 968 lbs., 134.00.
