Tulia Livestock Auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,221 head selling on March 22, compared to 4,558 head a week ago and 2,864 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling $2 to $3 lower. Trade was fairly active on good demand. Drought continues as cattleman are hoping for a rain soon. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 1%, less than 1% replacements and 99% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 61% steers and bulls, 39% heifers. Approximately 78% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 182.00 to 190.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 162.00 to 173.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 153.00 to 168.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 153.00 to 168.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 153.00 to 157.50, few 626 lb calves 141.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 141.75 to 146.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 135.75 to 144.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 125.50 to 131.50; part load 948 lbs., 121.00; load 1114 lbs., 105.00.
