Cash bids mostly higher

Compared to Oct. 1, cash bids for wheat, corn, sorghum, and soybeans were mostly higher, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Oct. 2.

The USDA crop progress report ratings for corn this week are at 69 percent good to excellent with 26 percent harvested and 68 percent good to excellent for soybeans with 23 percent harvested as of Sept. 30. Crop progress for wheat indicates 43 percent planted as of Sept. 30.

Wheat was steady to 14 1/4 cents higher. Corn was a 1 3/4 to 2 cents higher. Soybeans were 5 1/4 to 8 1/4 cents higher. Sorghum was 3 1/4 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $5.22 1/2, up 11 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $5.22 1/2, up 11 cents; Minneapolis, $5.76 1/2, up 14 1/4 cents; Portland, $6 to $6.17, unchanged; St. Louis, $4.80 to $5.19, up 11 to 9 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.16 1/2 to $3.19 1/2, up 1 3/4 cents; Minneapolis, $3.10 1/2, up 1 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, $3.16 1/2 to $3.32 1/2, up 1 3/4 cents; Omaha, $3.14 to $3.21, up 2 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $8.46, up 8 1/4 cents; Minneapolis, $7.66, up 8 1/4 cents; southern Iowa, $7.73 to $7.82, up 5 1/4 to 8 1/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $8.08 to $8.16, up 8 1/4 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Oct. 2, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $5.87 1/2 to $6.02 1/2, up 11 cents; 12% protein, $6.07 1/2 to $6.55 1/2, up 11 cents; 13% protein, $6.07 1/2 to $6.22 1/2, up 11 cents; 14% protein, $6.07 1/2 to $6.22 1/2, up 11 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was unavailable.
