Ogallala Livestock Auction report
The Ogallala Livestock Auction Market, Ogallala, Nebraska, reported receipts of 2,817 head selling on Oct. 4, compared to 3,465 head Sept. 20 and 3,585 head last year, according to the USDA to Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Kearney, Nebraska.
Compared to the Sept. 20 sale, steer and heifer calves were trading steady to $2 higher on comparable trades. Yearling steers and heifers were selling to $2 to $5 higher. There were nice long strings of yearling steers and heifers with a lighter showing of calves. Within the feeder cattle supply 71% were steers and 29% were heifers with 75% weighing over 600 pounds.
