McAlester livestock auction report
The McAlester Union Livestock Auction, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,400 head selling on Oct. 9, compared to 3,025 head a week ago and 2,300 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves were selling $4 to $9 lower, some were selling $11 lower. Heifer calves were selling $7 to $14 lower. Demand was light to moderate. Quality was plain to average. The supply included 14% over 600 pounds, with 41% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $6 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $5 lower. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 210 cows and bulls sold with 69% going to packers.
