Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 1,258 head selling on Oct. 11, compared to 1,557 head a week ago and 3,448 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, 5 inches of rain was received in the area leading to flooding which reflected in the receipts. Steers 850 to 950 pounds were selling steady to $4 higher, in 850 pounds and under a lower undertone was noted on a very limited supply. Heifers 450 to 850 pounds, a lower undertone was noted in an extremely light offering. Trade and demand were moderate. The feeder included 81% steers and 19% heifers, with 84% 600 pounds and over.
