Pratt livestock auction report

The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 881 head selling on Oct. 11, compared to 1,871 head a week ago and 2,584 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, due to excessive amounts of rain, offerings were limited with a lower demand noted. Feeder steers 800 to 850 pounds were selling steady to $5 lower, with a lower undertone noted on all other comparable weights. There were too few offerings of feeder heifers for a market test. There were not enough steer and heifer calves of comparable weights for a market test. Slaughter cows were selling steady to firm. There were not enough bulls for a market test. Demand was moderate, quality average. The feeder supply was 72% steers, 28% heifers, with 88% over 600 pounds.
