Ozarks Regional cattle sales report
The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Missouri, reported 100% feeder cattle with receipts of 2,528 head selling on Oct. 16, compared to 3,259 head a week ago and 3,401 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were trading $5 to $10 lower with spots selling $15 lower. Yearlings were not well tested, however undertones were lower. Demand was light on a moderate supply. The bulk of the offering was unweaned calves, which had a difficult time finding a new home due to the colder temperatures, rain and mud. The feeder cattle supply included 48% steers, 43% heifers and 10% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 28%.
