Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,224 head selling on Oct. 18, compared to 1,258 head a week ago and 2,305 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, receipts reflected the water and mud in the area once again. Steers 750 to 1050 pounds were selling $2 to $7 higher, in 750 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted in a limited supply. Heifers 650 to 950 pounds were selling $3 to $4 higher, in 650 pounds and under a lower undertone in a light offering. Trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply included 59% steers and 41% heifers, with 88% 600 pounds and over.
