Colorado feeder cattle auction summary
The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colorado, reported receipts of 10,971 head selling on Oct. 19, compared to 7,749 head a week ago and 9,009 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Greeley, Colorado.
Compared to a week ago, trade activity and demand were moderate to good. Feeder steers under 600 pounds were trading mostly $4 to $6 higher, 600 to 800 pounds were selling mostly $2 to $6 lower, and over 800 pounds showed instances of $6 higher on a light test. Feeder heifers under 600 pounds were trading mostly $1 to $6 higher, 600 to 800 pounds were selling $9 lower with instances selling $13 lower, and over 800 pounds were selling mostly $1 lower. The feeder supply consisted of approximately 58% steers, 41% heifers and 1% bulls. Feeder cattle over 600 pounds made up approximately 31% of the supply.
