Colorado feeder cattle auction summary
The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colorado, reported receipts of 18,018 head selling on Nov. 16, compared to 17,569 head a week ago and 16,763 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Greeley, Colorado.
Compared to a week ago, trade activity and demand were moderate to good. The feeder steers under 450 pounds were trading mostly $3 lower, 450 to 600 pounds were selling $5 to $11 lower, 600 to 850 pounds were trading $2 to $3 lower, and over 850 pounds were selling sharply higher on a light test. Feeder heifers under 400 pounds were trading $3 to $4 higher on a light test, 400 to 650 pounds were selling $4 to $7 lower, and over 650 pounds were selling steady to $4 higher on a light test. The feeder supply consisted of approximately 58% steers, 41% heifers and 1% bulls. Feeder cattle over 600 pounds made up approximately 33% of the supply.
