Corn harvest reaches 99 percent (Oklahoma)
Oklahoma experienced freezing temperature and mostly dry weather for the week ending Nov. 18, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Southern Plains Regional Field Office, Oklahoma, although areas of the Panhandle reported up to 5 inches of snow last Monday. Precipitation totals averaged 0.26 of an inch last week, with the Southeast district recording the highest at 0.59 of an inch. Statewide, temperatures averaged in the high 30s. Topsoil and subsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to surplus. There were 5.3 days suitable for fieldwork.
Winter wheat planted reached 92 percent, down 4 points from the previous year. Winter wheat emerged reached 81 percent, down 8 points from the previous year and down 12 points from normal. Canola planted reached 90 percent. Canola emerged reached 71 percent, down 29 points from the previous year. Rye planted reached 98 percent. Rye emerged reached 76 percent, down 24 points from the previous year. Oats planted reached 60 percent, down 1 point from the previous year. Oats emerged reached 30 percent, down 14 points from the previous year and down 21 points from normal.
Corn harvested reached 99 percent. Sorghum harvested reached 82 percent, down 1 point from the previous year and down 6 points from normal. Soybeans dropping leaves reached 95 percent, unchanged from the previous year. Soybeans harvested reached 68 percent, down 10 points from the previous year. Peanuts harvested reached 75 percent, down 13 points from the previous year and down 14 points from normal. Cotton harvested reached 51 percent, down 7 points from the previous year and down 7 points from normal.
