Pratt Livestock Auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported estimated receipts of 2,650 head selling on Nov. 15, compared to 3,476 head a week ago and 3,406 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 700 to 850 pounds were selling mostly $9 lower, with instances selling $12 lower on a lighter supply. Steer and heifer calves saw a lower undertone, with buyers discounting calves for excessive full, fleshy and short weaned or fresh off the cows. The offerings included a heavy supply of calves, with some un-vaccinated and short to time or unweaned calves. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady to $1 higher. Bulls were selling $4 to $7 lower with limited offerings. Overall, demand moderate to good, quality average to attractive. The feeder supply was 65% steers, 35% heifers, with 63% over 600 pounds. Pratt will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.
