Pratt Livestock Auction report

The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, Sept. 13, reported receipts of 3,024 head selling, compared to 2,057 head a week ago and 4,887 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 750 to 800 pounds were selling steady to $4 higher, 800 to 850 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher with a higher undertone on all other comparable weights. Due to very limited heifer offerings a week ago, feeder heifers had instances of selling $7 to $9 higher on few comparable weights, with 750 to 800 pounds selling $10 higher. An abundance of heifer and bull calves were offered, but there were not enough comparable weights for a market test. Slaughter cow offerings were selling steady to $3 higher. Bulls were selling steady on limited offerings. Demand was good to very good. Quality was average to mostly attractive. The feeder supply was 44% steers, 54% heifers, 2% bulls, with 94% over 600 pounds.
