Pratt Livestock Auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, Sept. 6, reported receipts of 2,057 head selling, compared to 3,262 head a week ago and 2,877 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 950 to 1000 pounds were selling $1 to $2 higher, 750 to 800 pounds and 800 to 850 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher, with a slightly higher undertone on all other comparable weights. There were very few feeder heifer offerings. On limited comparable weights, 750 to 800 pounds were selling $3 to $4 lower. There were not enough steer and heifer calves for a market test. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $5 higher on limited offerings. Slaughter bull offerings were selling mostly steady. Demand was good to very good. Quality was average to mostly attractive. The feeder supply was 87% steers, 13% heifers, with 95% over 600 pounds.

Slaughter cows: Breaker, 75 to 80% lean, 59.00 to 63.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 55.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 45.50 to 52.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 46.00 to 48.50; high dressing, 49.00 to 51.75; low dressing, 42.50.
Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 79.00 to 81.50; high dressing, 83.50 to 84.50; low dressing 74.00 to 76.50.
