McAlester Union livestock market report

The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,050 head on Feb. 13, compared to 1,350 head last week and 1,200 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, the steer calves weighing under 450 pounds were selling $7 higher, some were selling $2 higher and those over 450 pounds were steady to $3 higher. The heifer calves under 500 pounds were selling $1 to $4 lower and those over 500 pounds were steady to $3 higher. The quality was average through attractive. The demand was moderate to good. The supply included 25% weighing over 600 pounds and 53% was heifers. The slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher. The slaughter bulls were selling $6 higher. A total of 350 cows and bulls was sold with 57% going to packers.
