High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Dec. 11 reported receipts of 55,444 head of cattle selling compared to 57,879 head a week ago and 52,727 head trading a year ago, according to USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri. This report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. 

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 14,798 head, 1,150 to 1,675 lbs., 166.00 to 171.00 (169.47); 65 to 80% Choice, 5,777 head, 1,220 to 1,600 lbs., 170.00 to 171.00 (170.98); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,536 head, 1,220 to 1,425 lbs., 169.00 to 171.00 (170.58). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 125 head, 1,350 to 1,500 lbs., 171.00 to 172.00 (171.27). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 11,102 head, 844 to 1,080 lbs., 265.00 to 272.00 (269.54); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,444 head, 890 to 1,008 lbs., 267.00 to 275.00 (274.55).
