High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Oct. 23 reported receipts of 82,065 head of cattle selling compared to 80,333 head a week ago and 85,133 head trading a year ago, according to USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri. This report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. 

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 34,252 head, 1,285 to 1,650 lbs., 181.00 to 187.00 (186.48); 65 to 80% Choice, 6,070 head, 1,250 to 1,550 lbs., 183.00 to 187.00 (184.85); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,248 head, 1,150 to 1,530 lbs., 182.00 to 185.50 (184.63). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 704 head, 1,425 to 1,550 lbs., 185.00 to 188.00 (187.53). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 7,180 head, 822 to 1,075 lbs., 290.00 to 294.50 (293.66); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,307 head, 879 to 1,024 lbs., 290.00 to 294.00 (293.11). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 1,524 head, 945 to 1,016 lbs., 289.00 to 295.00 (293.52).
