Heavy precipitation received in southern half of state

Average temperatures for the week ending April 1 were below average with heavy precipitation in the southern half of the state, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Heartland Regional Field Office, Missouri. Temperatures last week averaged 44.4 degrees, 5.1 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 2.42 inches statewide, 1.42 inches above normal. There were 1.2 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent very short, 8 percent short, 64 percent adequate, and 26 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 15 percent short, 72 percent adequate, and 10 percent surplus.
