McAlester livestock auction report
The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,675 head selling on Jan. 9, compared to 1,300 head selling a week ago and 2,250 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves were selling $3 to $8 higher. Heifer calves were selling $4 to $8 higher. Quality was average through attractive. Demand was good. The supply included 32% over 600 pounds with 44% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were trading $8 higher. A total of 230 cows and bulls sold with 67% going to packers.
