Tulia Livestock Auction report
The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 4,133 head on Jan. 11, compared to 1,356 head last week and 3,350 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, the yearling steers and heifers were mostly selling $6 to $10 lower. The trade was active on good demand. The offering consisted of attractive quality yearling steers and heifers weighing 650 to 900 pounds. The area remains extremely dry and producers with cattle out on wheat were starting to worry. The slaughter cows and bulls made up 2% of the stock, 0% were replacements and 98% were feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 63% steers and bulls and 37% was heifers with nearly 91% of the run were over 600 pounds.
