OKC West Livestock auction report

The OKC West Livestock, El Reno, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,500 head on Jan. 16, compared to 15,130 head last week, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, the steer and heifer calves were lightly tested; however, most trades were selling $2 to $4 higher. The demand was moderate to good. The quality was average to attractive. A strong and very cold winter storm has came across the trade area hampering livestock movement. The feeder cattle supply included 49% steers, 46% was heifers and 5% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 30%.
