Ogallala cattle auction report
The Ogallala Livestock Auction Market, Ogallala, Nebraska, reported receipts of 7,220 head on Jan. 18, compared to 6,700 head last week and 6,775 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Nebraska.
Compared to a week ago, the steers were selling $5 to $10 higher and heifers were steady to $11 higher. The demand was good from the crowd and internet. A good selection of cattle was offered. Steers accounted for 56% and heifers were 44% of the offering, with 58% weighing over 600 pounds.
