National Association of Conservation Districts announce photo and poster contest winners
The National Association of Conservation Districts recently announced the poster and photo contests winners at the organization’s 72nd annual meeting.
Each year, the NACD and NACD Auxiliary photo and poster contests give students and adults the opportunity to display their artistic talents on a national stage. Only winners from the High Plains Journal readership area are listed below.
Joni Mehus of Root River Soil and Water Conservation District in Minnesota won second place in the adult division of the Agriculture and Conservation Across America photo contest.
Tanya Flegel of Kingsbury Conservation District in South Dakota won second place in the adult division of the Conservation in Action photo contest; and
Karalee Christensen of Root River Soil and Water Conservation District in Minnesota won second place in the youth division of the Conservation in Action photo contest.
Over 250 kindergarten through 12th-grade students submitted “Healthy Soils are Full of Life!” themed posters for the 2017 NACD poster contest.
Kooper Craig Bean of Buena Vista Soil and Water Conservation District in Iowa won first place; and Lydia Mae Parry of Uinta County Conservation District in Wyoming won second place in the kindergarten through first grade poster division.
Rhett Forkner of Vernon County Soil and Water Conservation District in Missouri won first place in the second through third grade poster division.
Maria Kassandra Caraveo of Stevens County Conservation District in Kansas won second place in the seventh through ninth grade poster division.
