Pratt Feeder Cattle Auction report

The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 5,126 head selling on Jan. 25, compared to 2,312 head a week ago and 3,843 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 650 to 950 pounds were selling firm to $6 higher. Feeder heifers 600 to 800 pounds were selling firm to $6 higher and 900 to 950 pounds were selling steady. In steer and heifer calves an extremely higher undertone was noted, compared to last sale’s light test. Trade was active and demand good. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading steady. Receipts included 85% 600 pounds and over, 8% 600 pounds and under and 7% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers.
