Salina livestock auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,345 head Feb. 1, compared to 4,458 head a week ago and 2,653 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, steers 800 to 1000 pounds were selling steady to $2 lower. In 800 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted. In heifers 350 to 950 pounds, a higher undertone was noted with instances of $1 higher. Trade and demand was moderate. Receipts included 93% 600 pounds and over, 06% 600 pounds and under and 01% slaughter cows. Feeder supply was 71% steers and 29% heifers.
