McAlester livestock market report
The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,350 head selling on Feb. 6, compared to 1,450 head a week ago and 1,600 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 450 pounds were selling steady, over 450 pounds were selling $2 to $6 higher, there were instances selling $12 higher. Heifer calves were selling $4 to $6 higher. Quality was average through attractive. Demand was good. The supply included 30% over 600 pounds with 40% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $4 higher. Packer demand was good. A total of 145 cows and bulls sold with 65% going to packers.
