Georgia livestock auction summary
The summary of livestock auctions in Georgia for the week ending Feb. 16, totaled 6,100 head selling, compared to 7,202 head a week ago and 7,088 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Georgia.
Compared to a week ago, slaughter cows were selling steady to $2 higher, slaughter bulls were selling steady to $1 higher, feeder steers were selling $1 to $3 higher, feeder bulls were selling $2 to $4 higher, feeder heifers were selling steady to $4 higher, steer calves and bull calves were selling $2 to $5 higher, heifer calves were selling $2 to $4 higher, replacement cows were selling mostly steady. The offering included 15% steers slaughter cows, 2% slaughter bulls, 13% feeders over 600 pounds, 60% feeders under 600 pounds, 10% feeder cows, 15% feeder steers, 29% feeder heifers and 28% feeder bulls.
