San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co., San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,735 head selling on Feb. 15, compared to 1,137 head a week ago and 766 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were selling firm. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $4 higher, slaughter bulls were selling firm. Stock cows and pairs were trading slightly lower. Trading and demand was moderate. Quality was full range from attractive to plain. Dry weather throughout the area has hampered demand for replacement cows and pairs. The supply included 18% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 61% feeders, 20% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 55% steers and bulls, 40% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 200.00 to 220.00; 321 lbs., 194.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 149.00 to 154.50; 718 lbs., 142.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 175.00 to 181.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 154.00 to 162.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 138.00 to 145.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 132.00 to 137.50; 804 lbs., 134.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 160.00 to 174.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 154.00 to 174.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 140.00 to 151.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 128.00 to 136.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 126.00 to 131.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 122.00 to 127.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 147.00 to 150.00; 635 lbs., 124.00; 995 lbs., 96.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1800 lbs., 55.00 to 67.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1475 lbs., 63.00 to 73.00; high dressing, 74.00 to 77.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1400 lbs., 59.00 to 67.00; low dressing, 51.00 to 59.50; 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 47.00 to 52.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1500 to 2000 lbs., 80.00 to 85.00; high dressing, 91.50; low dressing, 1150 to 1600 lbs., 74.00 to 83.00.

Stock cows/heifers: All were pregnancy tested and all were sold by the head. Medium and large frame 1, baby tooth, heavy bred 1425.00 to 1435.00; solid mouth, heavy bred 1200.00 to 1325.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, baby tooth 1125.00 to 1250.00; solid mouth 1025.00 to 1200.00; short solid mouth 925.00 to 975.00. Medium and large frame 2, 800.00 to 1025.00.

Pairs: All sold by the pair. All have 150- to 350-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 1, baby tooth cows 1325.00 to 1425.00; solid mouth cows 1300.00 to 1400.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, baby tooth cows 1175.00 to 1250.00; solid mouth cows 1225.00 to 1250.00; short solid mouth cows 870.00 to 1000.00. Medium and large frame 2, 800.00 to 1050.00.

Stocker/feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1050 91.00 to 104.00 hundredweight; young and middle age, 800 to 1075 lbs., 80.00 to 88.00 hundredweight; middle age 900 to 1450 lbs., 71.00 to 76.00 hundredweight; thin and/or aged 800 to 1300 lbs., 60.00 to 68.00 hundredweight.

Open heifers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 950 to 1000 lbs., 102.00 to 111.00 hundredweight.

Breeding bulls: 1300.00 to 1900.00 per head.
