Colorado feeder cattle auction summary

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colorado, reported receipts of 2,917 head selling on Feb. 23, compared to 4,858 head a week ago and 5,104 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Greeley, Colorado.

Compared to a week ago, trade activity and demand were moderate to good. Feeder steers were trading $2 to $10 higher on a good test. Feeder heifers under 550 pounds were trading $5 lower and 550 pounds and up were trading steady. The feeder supply consisted of approximately 56% steers, 41% heifers and 1% bull calves. The feeder cattle over 600 pounds made up approximately 63% of the supply.
