Workshop offered March 13 about raising livestock on small acreages

University of Missouri Extension is offering “Raising Livestock on Small Acreages” starting at 5:30 p.m., March 13 at the Williams Ag Center, Crowder College, Neosho.

“The program will provide attendees with tools to help them enjoy and make a little money on a livestock enterprise,” said Jennifer Lutes, agriculture business specialist, with MU Extension in McDonald County.

MU Extension instructors for this program will be Eldon Cole, livestock specialist; Tim Schnakenberg, agronomy specialist; and Lutes. Topics they will address include “Pasture, hay and grazing management,” “How to evaluate soil health, fertility and forage base,” “Animal health, selection and nutrition,” and “Record-keeping, marketing and fiscal planning.”

Cost for the workshop is $20 per person and that fee includes a meal sponsored by First Community Bank. Registration and checks can be mailed to MU Extension in Newton County, 18728 HWY 59, Neosho, Missouri 64850.
