Georgia livestock auction report

The summary of livestock auctions in Georgia for the week ending Feb. 23, totaled 9,272 head selling, compared to 6,066 head a week ago and 7,962 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Georgia.

Compared to a week ago, slaughter cows were selling steady to $2 higher, slaughter bulls were selling $1 to $2 higher. Feeder steers and steer calves were selling steady to $3 higher, feeder bulls were selling $1 to $3 higher, bull calves were selling steady to $4 higher. Feeder heifers and heifer calves were selling steady to $3 higher. Replacement cows were selling unevenly steady to $3 higher. Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were selling steady to $2 lower. Feeder steers and feeder bulls were selling $1 to $2 higher, steer calves were selling $2 to $4 higher, bull calves were selling $1 to $3 higher. Feeder heifers and heifer calves were selling steady to $3 higher, replacement cows were trading mostly steady. The offering included 11% steers slaughter cows, 2% slaughter bulls, 14% feeders over 600 pounds, 61% feeders under 600 pounds, 12% feeder cows, 15% feeder steers, 31% feeder heifers and 29% feeder bulls.
