Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary
The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 746 head selling on Feb. 26, compared to 448 head selling at the Feb. 12 sale and 753 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to the Feb. 12 sale, feeder steers and heifers were selling steady to firm on limited comparable sales. Trade was fairly active on good demand. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 3%, 1% replacements and 96% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 53% steers and bulls, 47% heifers, nearly 71% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
