OKC West cattle auction report

The OKC West Livestock, El Reno, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 6,570 head Feb. 28, compared to 9,958 head last week and 13,955 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers were mostly steady. The feeder heifers were selling $1 to $4 higher on limited offerings. The steer and heifer calves were very lightly tested but traded with a much higher undertone for very light weight calves weighing under 400 pounds and those over 400 pounds were mostly selling $3 to $5 higher. The demand was good to very good as recent moisture has came across the trade area bringing much needed relief. The feeder cattle supply included 71% steers, 28% was heifers and 1% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 85%.
