Pratt Livestock auction report
The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 6,616 head selling on March 1, compared to 6,012 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to the Feb. 15 sale, feeder steers 650 to 1000 pounds were selling $4 to $8 lower. Feeder heifers were selling firm to $2 higher. In steer and heifer calves 600 pounds and under a firm to higher undertone was noted on a light test. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling $2 to $4 higher. As the day started, the trade was moderate and demand good. The market suffered some downward pressure as the day went on and buyers filled their feeder cattle orders. Receipts included 86% 600 pounds and over, 5% 600 pounds and under and 9% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 52% steers and 48% heifers.
