San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co., Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,100 head selling on March 8, compared to 1,229 head selling aweek ago and 1,038 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer, heifer calves and yearlings were selling firm to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were trading firm. Stock cows and pairs were selling steady in a light test. Trading was fairly active, demand good. Quality was full range from attractive to plain. The supply included 10% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 85% feeders, 4% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 55% steers and bulls and 30% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 199.00 to 209.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 192.00 to 197.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 170.00 to 180.00, few 187.00 to 190.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 162.00 to 165.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 140.00 to 145.50; 821 lbs., 139.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 217 lbs., 207.50; 300 to 400 lbs., 189.00 to 196.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 180.00 to 190.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 156.00 to 169.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 142.00 to 156.00. Stock cows/heifers: All were

pregnancy tested and all were sold by the head. Medium and large frame 2, 800.00 to 1050.00.

Pairs: All were sold by the pair. All have 150- to 350-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1175.00 to 1250.00. Medium and large frame 2, 800.00 to 900.00.

Stocker/feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 900 to 1050 96.00 to 108.00 hundredweight; young and middle age, 800 to 1100 lbs., 83.00 to 96.00 hundredweight; middle age, 900 to 1450 lbs., 73.00 to 83.00 hundredweight; thin and or aged, 800 to 1300 lbs., 65.00 to 75.00 hundredweight.
