Apache Livestock Auction report
The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,793 head selling on March 8, compared to 1,776 head a week ago and 2,989 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling steady to $5 lower. Feeder heifers were selling $3 to $4 lower. Steer calves were selling $3 to $6 lower. Heifer calves were selling $3 to $5 higher. Quality was average to attractive with several drafts off of wheat pasture. The supply included 65% over 600 pounds and 32% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $2 to higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $5 higher. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 189 cows and bulls sold with 54% going to packers.
