Asmus to present Hertz Lecture on April 4
Amy Asmus, vice president of the chemical supply company Asmus Farm Supply, will present the 2018 Carl and Marjory Hertz Lecture on Emerging Issues in Agriculture April 4 at Iowa State University.
Asmus will present, “What Is Possible: Advancing Agriculture Through AGvocacy, Partnerships and Collaboration,” at 7 p.m. in the Dolezal Auditorium, 127 Curtiss Hall, on the Iowa State campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Asmus, a native of Walcott and an Iowa State alumna with a degree in graphic design, took an unlikely path to agriculture. She joined her husband, Harlan, in running the Asmus family business based in Rake, Iowa, which they purchased from his father in 2004. Asmus Farm Supply was honored with the National Retailer of the Year award November in 2017.
She became a Certified Crop Adviser and is a known leader in the field. Asmus is a member of the Board of Directors at the Agricultural Retailers Association and served on the executive committee of the International Certified Crop Adviser Board from 2012 to 2015. She advocates as a member of the Environmental Protection Agency Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee and serves on the Weed Science Society’s Herbicide Resistance Education Committee. Asmus is a partner in SecureTracs, a business helping retailers comply with Environmental Protection Agency repackaging and tank tracking requirements.
The Carl and Marjory Hertz Lecture on Emerging Issues in Agriculture was created in memory of the founders of Hertz Farm Management Inc. to inspire generations of industry leaders, research scientists and young professionals to reach their full potential.
