‘A Grass By Any Other Name’ class set for March 24
Grasses are older than, well, Methuselah. Did you know besides the grass in your lawn, that rice, wheat and maize are grasses too? The Cleveland County Master Gardener Association will be conducting the class "A Grass By Any Other Name." It will take place at 10 a.m. on March 24 in Room “C” at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. This event is free and open to the public.
The class will be taught by Rahmona Thompson, an emerita biology professor from East Central University, Ada, Oklahoma. She has botany degrees from Oklahoma University and a Ph.D. in botany from Oklahoma State University. Join us to learn about the structures and features that distinguish members of the grass family. Explore the relationship between these features and how a grass species performs either as an ornamental or as a turf plant. Look at some of the species that grow best in Oklahoma.
The Cleveland County Extension Center Room C is located at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, 601 E. Robinson, Norman. For more information please call 405-321-4774
