Ada livestock auction report

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,256 head selling on March 28, compared to 1,883 head a week ago and 973 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 500 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher, heavier weights were trading steady. Demand was mostly moderate. Overall quality average to attractive. Receipts were limited by moderate to heavy rains in the trade area. Heifers made up 53% of the supply and cattle over 600 pound 35%. Slaughter cows and bulls were not fully tested. Rains and muddy conditions limited receipts. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 157 cows and bulls sold with 32% going to packers.
