Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary
The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 361 head selling on April 2, compared to 674 head a week ago and 522 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested though a lower undertone was noted. Trade was slow on light to moderate demand. Receipts were curbed by down markets and unseasonably large runs earlier due to drought conditions in the area. Cows and bulls made up 8%, with 3% replacements and 89% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 24% steers and bulls, 76% heifers and approximately 73% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
