The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 393 head selling on April 9, compared to 361 head a week ago and 858 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, there were not enough comparable sales of steers or heifers for an adequate market trend; however, a higher undertone was noted. Trade activity and demand were light to moderate. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4%, less than 1% replacements and 95% feeders. The supply consisted of 38% steers and bulls, 62% heifers. Approximately 63% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 168.00 to 193.00; few 477 lbs., 170.50; few 574 lbs., 153.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 117.50 to 124.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 165.00 to 185.00; individual 455 lbs., 140.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 137.00 to 149.00; few 675 lbs., 132.25; 700 to 750 lbs., 127.50 to 127.75; few 840 lbs., 114.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 496 lbs., 128.00.
