McAlester livestock market report
The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,450 head selling on April 11, compared to 825 head a week ago and 1,650 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 450 pounds were selling steady to $4 higher, over 450 pounds were selling steady to $6 lower. Heifer calves under 550 pounds were selling $1 to $5 lower, over 550 pounds were selling $2 to $6 higher. Quality was average. Demand was moderate to good. The supply included 23% over 600 pounds with 45% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $4 lower. A total of 350 cows and bulls sold with 51% going to packers.
