Wichita consumers will get a firsthand look at life on a Kansas farm and ranch Saturday, April 21, during a tour organized by the Greenwood County CattleWomen. This will be the third year for the Day at the Ranch tour. The ag advocacy event is led by Jamie and Diltz Lindamood, Matt and Amy Perrier and others from the local ranching community of Eureka.
The group will learn about pasture management practices in the Flint Hills, crop and hay production, animal husbandry, cattle breeding technologies and beef by-products. A prescribed burn and smoke management plan discussion also is on the agenda. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to climb on tractors and other equipment, bottle-feed a calf and enjoy a beef lunch.
