OKC West Livestock auction report

OKC West Livestock, El Reno, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 12,830 head on April 18, compared to 8,865 head last week and 12,843 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers weighing under 850 pounds were trading $2 to $4 lower and heavier weights were fully steady to firm. The feeder heifers were mostly steady. The demand was moderate for feeder cattle. The steer calves were selling $4 to $6 higher and heifers were selling $2 to $4 higher where comparable sales were noted on both classes. The demand was moderate to good especially for long weaned calves. The quality was plain through attractive. The feeder cattle supply included 66% steers, 0% was dairy steers, 33% was heifers and 1% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 89%.
