Scholarship offered to cattlemen pursuing post-graduate degree

A $2,500 scholarship is available for a student who has already received a 4-year degree and is enrolled in or pursuing a post-graduate degree, master’s, Ph.D., law degree, etc.

The Gebhart Legacy Scholarship Fund is administrated through the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation. According to Tiffani Pruitt, OCF coordinator, applicants must be able to show experience and involvement in cattle industry leadership activities and must be members in good standing of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association or their state cattlemen’s association.

“The OCF is honored to help the Gebhart family carry on Richard Gerbart’s legacy of leadership through this unique annual scholarship,” Pruitt said.

Richard Gebhart is a past president of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association and served in several other capacities within the beef industry on a local, state and national level.

“Richard earned several degrees in diverse areas. This scholarship pays honor to Richard while supporting and encouraging young people with an interest in agriculture—another passion of Richard’s,” Pruitt said.

More information and the application can be found at www.okcattlemen.org. All applications must be emailed, submitted online or postmarked by June 1. The scholarship presentation will take place during the 66th Annual Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association Convention and Trade Show.
