Arkansas livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending April 27, showed estimated receipts of 10,050 head selling, compared to 10,245 head a week ago and 6,720 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling mostly steady to $6 higher. Feeder heifers were selling mostly steady to $3 higher. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $2 lower. The supply included 5,850 stocker and feeder calves, 2,110 feeder yearlings, 1,090 replacement cows, 830 slaughter cows and 170 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 43% yearling heifers.
