Hub City cattle auction report
The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, South Dakota, reported receipts of 5,733 head on May 9, compared to 7,450 head last week and 3,977 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Compared to a week ago, the steers weighing 750 to 850 pounds were selling $3 to $4 lower, those 851 to 950 pounds were mostly steady, those 951 to 1,000 pounds were not well tested and those 1,001 to 1,100 pounds were mostly selling $3 lower. The heifers from 650 to 700 pounds were mostly steady, those 701 to 800 pounds were selling $2 to $5 lower, those 801 to 850 pounds were steady, and those 851 to 1,000 pounds were selling $3 to $4 lower. There was good demand for this large offering. The steers made up 47% of the feeder supply and heifers were 53%, with 96% weighing over 600 pounds.
