McAlester Union cattle market report

The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,750 head on May 15, compared to 1,000 head last week and 1,450 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The quality was plain through average, with groups of attractive calves selling late. The demand was moderate. The supply included 27% weighing over 600 pounds and 47% was heifers. The slaughter cows were steady to $3 lower. The slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 325 cows and bulls was sold with 47% going to packers.
