Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,251 head selling on May 24, compared to 1,898 head a week ago and 2,370 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Next week we will begin our Harvest Break. Compared to a week ago, steers 800 to 950 pounds were selling $6 to $8 higher, 800 pounds and under were selling steady to higher undertones noted in a light offering. Heifers 800 to 950 pounds were selling $5 to $6 higher, in 800 pounds and under higher undertones were noted in a light supply. Trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply included 51% steers and 49% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 83% (1,868).
